Cardinals pull out OT win against Miami

Jay Feeley booted a 46 yard field goal with 8:39 to go in overtime to give the Arizona Cardinals a 24-21 victory and remain undefeated in four games on the season.

“There was a lot of fight in team” head coach Ken Whisenhunt said after the game. “To be 4-0, I’m very happy about that.”

Linebacker Darryl Washington caused a late game fumble with 2:51 to go in the game, recovered by Vonnie Holliday and the Cardinals would find the end zone with :22 remaining on a fourth down TD pass from Kevin Kolb to Andre Roberts.

At the 8:05 mark in the 4th quarter Dolphin receiver Legedu Naanee came down with the football but immediately fumbled it away, Patrick Peterson would scoop up the ball and return it 61 yards down to the Dolphin 4 yard line.

Just two plays later Kolb would give the football right back to Miami on a controversial interception by the Dolphins Shawn Smith, who had two picks on the day.

Tannehill then went up top to Brian Hartline for a 80 yard touchdown to take the lead 19-14, on a breakdown by the Cardinals secondary. The Dolphins would add a two point conversion to extend the lead to 7.

Hartline would set a Dolphin receiving record with 253 and a touchdown yards.

The Cardinals offensive line, specifically the tackles could not handle the Miami pass rush, which punished Kolb throughout the afternoon including 4 sacks by rookie Cameron Wake. The two teams played to a scoreless draw after the first fifteen minuets of play. But in the second quarter the Miami offense took control of the clock . Dolphin Quarterback Ryan Tannehill engineered a 14 play 64 yard drive that led to a Miami field goal, giving them a 3-0 lead.

The Cardinal defense couldn’t keep the Dolphins out of the end zone.

The Cardinals have a short work week, playing on Thursday at St. Louis in a divisional game against the Rams.
