Cardinals come back to beat San Diego

Arizona Sports News online

John Brown found the end zone on a simple slip-screen and the Cardinals found a way to hang on and beat San Diego 18-17 on Monday night. The TD pass by Carson Palmer finished off a 91 yard drive that proved to be the game winning points, Palmer completed 12 of his final 13 pass attempts. Here are some other quick hits that I came away.

Larry Fitzgerald, Larry Fitzgerald, Larry Fitzgerald…
Your highest paid player on the offensive side of the football cannot go through three quarters of a game and not be targeted once. Ten different Cardinals players caught a pass before Fitz took in a fade late in the game…

Palmer had three rushes for thirty yards…

Liked what I saw out of Tommy Kelly on the defensive line. For a guy who has only been in town less than two weeks, Kelly did several good things.
Larry Foote was terrific at linebacker for the Cardinals…

Tony Jefferson appeared to make a terrific play for an interception in the fourth quarter, only to be called for defensive holding. Jefferson gets beat on a huge third down moments later by Antonio Gates. Gates would have a huge night…

The offense wasn’t crisp for most of the night. A couple of receivers ran the wrong routes in the opening moments of the game, Andre Ellington fumbled, Palmer lost the ball in the third quarter…

Up next, at New York against the Giants on Sunday morning.
