Canyon View Closes Historic Second Season with Momentum

In just their second year with a varsity program, Canyon View High School’s football program not only made their first trip to the playoffs but also earned a Region Championship. They also accomplished those feats with a new coach in year two, Nick Gehrts, who spent the past five seasons at the helm of the Westview football program.

After Westview’s football season was entirely canceled last season due to COVID-19, Gehrts stepped down in December 2020 and took the head coaching position at Canyon View. The Jaguars ended the season with a 7-4 after starting just 1-3 to start the season. CVHS was also undefeated in 5A Northwest Region play.
