The Sun Devils continue to put their fingerprints on the defense as California linebacker Sire Gaines committed to Arizona State on Saturday.

Gaines, standing at 6-foot, 200 pounds, brings a versatility to the football field as he played on both sides of the ball for Orange Vista High School. On defense, he tallied 25 total tackles with three sacks, five tackles for loss and an interception. On offense, had 854 rushing yards, 820 receiving yards and 25 total touchdowns.
He chose the Sun Devils over a top-six that included Washington State, Washington, Arizona, Boise State and San Diego State.
This is the 17th public commitment for the Sun Devils in the 2024 recruiting class, with 10 commits pleading on the defensive side of the ball. Gaines is the second linebacker committed, joining Louisiana’s Albert Smith.
