No student at Cactus High School was born on this Earth the last time their football program didn’t make the postseason.
The Cobras kicked off their 24th consecutive year in an AIA Football State Tournament with a dominant 42-13 victory over Mountain View, Marana. Cactus has qualified for the postseason each year since 2001 and claimed victory in 19 of their 24 first-round games over that span. Now, in their third season playing in the 5A Conference, CHS has a chance to vie for the program’s third state championship.
Cactus will host a 5A Quarterfinal matchup next Friday night against fellow Peoria Unified District School, Raymond S. Kellis, a team that Cactus has only played once in program history with a 55-6 victory in 2015.
