While the 2022 Arizona high school football head coaching carousel was moderately tame compared to a year ago, that certain doesn’t mean HC’s haven’t used the off-season to access, and at times, re-tool their staffs with spring ball quickly approaching.
Brophy was one of those schools, adding a familiar name from the college coaching ranks in hopes of jump-starting an offense that scored 14 or fewer points seven times last fall.

“We are excited to bring Taylor Mazzone on as offensive coordinator,” head coach Jason Jewell said. “He brings a ton of experience to our staff, most recently serving as the offensive coordinator at Idaho State. He had glowing recommendations from Charlie Ragle, assistant head coach at Arizona State. Getting someone of this caliber is going to be great for our football team. We are bringing on a guy that was calling plays against UNLV and San Diego State last year and has interviewed for several NFL jobs.”
Mazzone has over a decade of college staff experience, specifically coaching quarterbacks which will fit in well with the Broncos collection of young talent at that position.
BCP retained Tony Cotton as co-offensive coordinator, and wide receivers coach, joining Jewell in his new full-time roll on campus. He called plays for half of last season.

Former Arizona Cardinal and NFL defensive lineman Kyle Vanden Bosch is the new Brophy special teams coach. His twin sons, Bastian and Case, are both Division I prospects. He has also been working with players on strength and conditioning since last fall.
“Any time you can add this much experience to a program, it is a positive for the kids and program, in general,” Jewell noted. “Adding two varsity coaches on campus is huge. Kyle and Tony will get the opportunity to be around our kids all day and be positive role models for them. And getting someone with as much experience as Taylor to call our plays, this is a win for the Brophy Broncos.”
Brophy hosts Williams Field to open their season on August 25th.
