Brophy erupts offensively in route of Hamilton

Going into Saturday’s matchup with Brophy, the Hamilton Huskies had been one of Division I’s top offensive teams in the playoffs thus far having put up big numbers against Corona del Sol and top seed Pinnacle.

But Saturday night it was the Brophy Broncos that provided the offensive explosion in a 10-2 win giving Hamilton their first loss of the tournament.

Brophy got home runs from sophomore Ryan Castellani who sky rocketed a ball to left field and another from catcher Connor Messman who ignited the five run sixth inning that created the separation.

The amazing part of Brophys performance was the fact that most of their offense came from the bottom of their order. The seven, eight and nine hitters provided two home runs,  two triples, six RBI and six runs scored.

Brophy will face off against the only other Division I team yet to lose, Chaparral, on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. from Camelback Ranch Stadium in Glendale.

Hamilton now has some work to do. They look to avoid elimination on Tuesday when they face Mesquite at 6:30 p.m. from Phoenix Municipal Stadium.
