Booker wasn’t “snubbed”, Big names looking at NHL in the Valley, WM Open hacks…

Arizona Sports News online

If a team has massively underachieved, which the Suns have, Devin Booker shouldn’t be given a free pass to the NBA All-Star game. The idea that it’s “tragic” or he was “snubbed” is just hometown pr honking. There is a time and place to complain, but just because the individual stats are impressive, his team has been the biggest disappointment in the Association through the first four months(long, long months). Winning matters. Add to that the NBA wants to market and create new “stars”. Booker is a veteran, who’s been underappreciated by the League from a marketing standpoint throughout his career IMO, but it goes both ways. Winning matters. Given that Booker had the Olympic Gold Medal run last Summer, a long break in mid-February is more important. Booker needs to be fresh in mid-April when the playoffs start and can make his mark on games that truly matter…

Keep an eye on Shane Doan and J.J. Watt when it comes to the potential ownership group working on the return of the NHL to Arizona. Lot happening behind the scenes…

Tuesday and Wednesday produce the best stories out of the WM Open. You see all sorts of sides from the fan base when it comes to Thursday, Friday and Saturday after 2pm. Sunday is like going to a regular tour event. Tuesday at the Special Olympics Putting Challenge Kenny Dillingham, Sam Leavitt, and other players from the Arizona State Peach Bowl will be competing. Same goes for Torey Lovullo, Corbin Burnes, Zac Gallen, and Merrill Kelly and the Cardinals have Jonathan Gannon coming out. San Tan Ford owner Tim Hovik puts this event on every year and does a great job with it.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Hovik turn his eye to politics in the near future…
