16 hits and tremendous pitching by Merrill Kelly led the Diamondbacks to a 9 -1 thrashing over Texas in Game Two of the World Series Saturday night. Now that you know the result, I’d like to rant.

IF Sewald doesn’t give up the homerun to Seager in Game One, the Diamondbacks are up 2-0. Suppose it were only that easy.  What is undeniable is the Diamondbacks are the better baseball team in this World Series. More speed, better-starting pitching, clutch hitting. They are just an all-around better team. This isn’t the hometown sports guy honking the horn. I just had my annual eye exam, and what I see is everything about this Diamondbacks team is working better than for Texas. I’m pretty close to saying this series is over even though it’s 1-1…

Merrill Kelly getting heated with his manager in Game Six vs the Phillies was the last time we had seen the Diamondback starting pitcher do his thing. Kelly didn’t want to come out of the elimination game against Philadelphia. Torey Lovullo made the tough call and was right to bring the hook…

Once again, I was brought back to the 2001 World Series as tonight progressed. Game Two against the Yankees, Randy Johnson spun a complete game and overwhelmed New York. In Game Two here in Texas, Kelly went seven strong innings, striking out nine and allowing just one run and three hits. A commanding performance…

Gabriel Moreno hit his 4th home run of the postseason. He’s just one long ball away from tying Sandy Alomar Jr, for most postseason home runs by a catcher. Alomar Jr. did it in 1997…

Ketel Marte has 18 straight postseason games with a base hit. He is the motor that makes this machine go…
