Saturday morning, Jedd Fisch was linked to a head coaching job in the Big10; by the afternoon, the University of Arizona leader was in the conversation for Coach of the Year. His Wildcats weren’t distracted by the rumor mill around their head coach; instead, dealing an old-fashioned beat down on Utah, winning in on-again, off-again rain showers, 42-18.
The Wildcats started the game fast, scoring three times in the first 10:54, including a wide receiver pass from Tetairoa McMillan to Michael Wiley and a blocked punt scoop and score by the Cats’ Anthony Ward.
Freshman Quarterback Noah Fifita completed 22 of 30 passes for 253 yards and two touchdowns.
With the victory, the 17th-ranked Wildcats move to 8-3 and travel to Tempe for next week’s season finale with Arizona State.
