Four-star guard Averie Lower headlines Molly Miller’s first Arizona State women’s basketball recruiting class.

Lower (pronounced Lauer) is a 6-foot shooting guard from Tiffin, a town of 4,500 in central Iowa. She committed to ASU on Sept. 1 and signed her letter of intent Wednesday along with guards Londyn Parker of Kansas City and Quin’Nya Gray de Sanders of Winter Haven, Fla.

The trio will begin their ASU careers in 2026-27 when Miller will be replacing a number of current players including starting guards Last-Tear Poa, Gabby Elliott and Marley Washenitz, all incoming transfers this season.

Lower is No. 54 in espnW 2026 national top 100 rankings. She is a two-sport star at Clear Creek Amana High School, also playing volleyball.

“As soon as I visited on that plane ride back home, I was like this the place,” Lower said. “It just felt right. Coach Molly is amazing. I don’t think there is anybody out there with the same amount of energy as she has.”

Lower cancelled planned visits to Missouri and Marquette after committing to ASU one day after Parker. Gray de Sanders joined them with a Sept. 14 commitment.

Already with 1,236 career points, Lower was on an Iowa 4A state championship team in 2024. Clear Creek is 59-13 in her three seasons.

She was Class 4A all-star first team in 2024-25, averaging 22.5 points, 9.3 rebounds and 3 assists. She is a career 44-percent shooter from 3-point.

“The biggest thing for me is I’m a shooter, and I’ve learned a coach needs to be able to know how to use a shooter,” Lower said. “I believe she (Miller) definitely knows how. She had an amazing shooter the last couple of years. She showed me how she utilized her and the ways she would like to utilize me. She has visions for me.”

Trinity San Antonio scored 865 in two seasons under Miller at Grand Canyon and was 2024 WAC Player of the Year.

Lower’s parents played college basketball at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and growing up her mom was her coach. She played club basketball for Iowa Attack then North Tartan and was on nationally successful club teams in 2023 and 2024.

In volleyball, Lower finished with more than 1,000 career kills. Her 2025 high school team lost to eventual champion North Scott in the 4A state semifinals on Nov. 5.

“It’s a big campus,” Lower said of ASU. “There’s so many different things to get involved in. The team and sports family seems amazing. There’s so many different tools that I can utilize with ASU being as big as it is.”

Parker is a 5-9 point guard and honors student at Staley High School, which reached the 2025 Missouri 6A state championship game.

The 5-8 Gray de Sanders is a defensive standout with elite speed for Winter Haven High School. Winter Haven won a sixth Florida state 7A title (first since 2018) in 2025.

Five-star point guard Kaleena Smith, ranked No. 1 nationally in the class of 2027, made an unofficial visit to ASU last week. She is from Ontario, Calif.
