The quarterback room continues to take shape in Tempe.
Stability was lacking at the position in Kenny Dillingham’s first year with the team, whether it be due to injury or poor play. Since then, Michigan State transfer Sam Leavitt joined ASU in the winter, joining Trenton Bourguet, the only remaining scholarship quarterback from last year’s group. Nebraska transfer Jeff Sims came to Tempe shortly after spring ball.
They are all learning the intricacies of new offensive coordinator Marcus Arroyo’s system. Each player is at a different stage in learning the playbook.
But no matter who is under center, ASU coaches seeing the group embracing the competition as the Sun Devils’ season-opener draws near on August 31 against Wyoming.
