ASU QB Breakdown With Scout’s Brandon Huffman

Arizona Sports News online

With fall camp under way and Camp Tontozona just around the corner, the first question most ASU fans have is who will be the quarterback? There are four quarterbacks vying for the job, with three of them being former Elite 11 participants.

The Sun Devils aren’t short on options in terms of talent or style of play:

Manny Wilkins, RS Sophomore

The backup to Mike Bercovici in 2015. While he did appear in games as a change of pace in the run-game, he didn’t throw a pass last year. He is a highly-touted dual-threat quarterback who loves to make plays with his legs.

Brady White, RS Freshman

A former four-star recruit with a big arm. Out of the four options, he may be the least mobile, but he is slippery and has been tabbed as a cerebral quarterback.

Bryce Perkins, RS Freshman

Arizona residents are very familiar with Perkins’ work at Chandler High School. He led the school to their first state title and has a reputation for his accurate passes and ability to break off big plays. He may be the best athlete of this group and was a track star in his prep days.

Dillon Sterling-Cole, Freshman

Pass DMC is a dual-threat quarterback out of Texas. Though he is a true freshman, Todd Graham has not excluded Sterling-Cole from the conversation. He can make the deep throws and isn’t afraid to tuck and run if needed.

There are the options. So where do they go? Scout.com National Director of Recruiting Brandon Huffman gives his evaluation of each signal-caller as a prep player and shares what each one could bring to the table.

It will be a huge few months for these four as they duke it out for the starting job, and it could be anyone’s job.

Remember, Graham had a similar situation when he came to the desert with Mike Bercovici, Michael Eubank and Taylor Kelly. Kelly seemed to be the third banana in that bunch but became a three-year starter when it was all said and done.
