ASU Lands High-Profile California Commitment

By Julian Paras

Four-star recruit Omarr Norman-Lott and Sacramento, California native has verbally committed to Arizona State.

Norman-Lott received a total of 11 offers from Division-I football programs, six of which came from within the Pac-12. To some this decision might not be as surprising, considering Lott’s uncle, Jamar Cain is the ASU defensive line coach.

A standout at Grant High School in Sacramento, the defensive tackle has recorded 25 total tackles, has average 6.3 tackles per game, and has added four sacks with an interception to boast his senior year.

Norman-Lott, listed at 6-feet-2.5 inches and 295 pounds, is an athletic defensive tackle who shows great athleticism and quickness on each snap. Video highlights show that Lott can lose his man on side shifts with an ability to stop the run game.

In his junior year, Lott recorded a total of 45 total tackles, all of them being solos, through eight games of play. That’s also half of his total tackles recorded (90) in his varsity career.

As a defensive tackle, his lateral movement to break away from defensive match-ups is unique at his position. Lott also possesses the ability to use his full body motion when going in for tackles which makes it difficult for opposing players to break from his grip. Once he gets his hands on somebody, it’s automatic majority of the time.

Norman-Lott visited ASU last month. He is still scheduled to trip to USC on November 22.

He also holds offers from Arizona, Boise State, Colorado, TCU, Texas A&M and others.
