Brophy tight end Tyler Powell had a busy spring with the baseball season. The 6-foot-6, 240-pound multi-sport athlete has now been working to add bulk to his frame.
Currently, Powell holds offers from Iowa State, UNLV, New Mexico State, UCLA, Arizona State, Florida State and Arizona.
Despite the Wildcats being the most recent to offer, Jedd Fisch and his staff have made an impact with Powell in the span of about four months.
Tight ends coach Jordan Paopao has been in constant contact with Powell over recent months and building a relationship with the Brophy target. The tight end will visit Tucson the weekend of June 18. Powell said it’s safe to say the Wildcats are recruiting him the hardest at this time.
On the field, Powell is looking to continue to develop as an all-around tight end. The tight end saw his role shift to a more blocking role after quarterback Elijah Warner was injured in the Broncos’ first game. The offense adjusted throughout the season and Powell wants to continue to develop as a pass-catcher.
Powell could be another great in-state addition to an already rock-solid start for the Wildcats’ first recruiting cycle under Fisch.
Arizona currently has Saguaro outside linebacker Tristan Monday and Hamilton offensive tackle Grayson Stovall in the fold, and Wildcats are seemingly a finalist for Chandler’s Quaron Adams and many other players have been offered by the Wildcats as well.
