Arizona Makes Case As Regional Host with Pac-12 Regular Season & Tournament Titles

As the Pac-12 era ended at Scottsdale Stadium Saturday night, the Arizona Wildcats got the last victory

After being no-hit for six innings by USC’s Caleb Aoki, the Wildcats broke through and scratched across four runs to take the 4-3 victory. Tommy Splaine had a walk-off single to plate Emilio Corona in dramatic fashion. It was Arizona’s eighth walk-off win of the season.

Now, the Wildcats will await their postseason fate for when the NCAA tournament placements are announced Monday morning.

The Wildcats sit at No. 31 in RPI and are firmly in the field, but they now hope to be one of the 16 regional hosts for the tournament. With the regular season conference title and now the tournament title, the ‘Cats feel they have enough on the resume to not have to leave Tucson next weekend.

They’ll learn their fate at 9 am on Monday.
