Saguaro Safety Jarrell Next In Line For Sabercats

SAN ANTONIO –

In K.J. Jarrell’s four years at Saguaro, the Sabercats won four state championships.

He watched and learned from playmakers like Christian Kirk and Byron Murphy, the top players in Arizona in their respective classes and was led by head coach Jason Mohns.

Jarrell and Mohns hooked up for one more game on Saturday.

Jarrell played safety for the West team in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, and Mohns was the team’s offensive coordinator and assistant coach.

The hard-hitting safety ended the day with two tackles and just missed a diving interception. This is nothing new for Jarrell, who ended his senior season with 56 total tackles and a team-leading four interceptions.

Jarrell is still navigating his recruitment with ASU, USC and Cal as his final three. He likes the thought of “building something” with the seven other in-state commits, including his Saguaro teammates Jared Poplawski, Kyle Soelle and Corey Stephens. USC’s draw is their on-field tradition. Former Saguaro star and current Cal safety Luke Rubenzer has been recruiting Jarrell to Berkley for quite some time.

He will be making visits to all three schools over the next few weekends and feels he will be ready to make a decision once he has returned.

Whichever school ends up getting Jarrell, they are getting a player who knows how to win and has been insulated by players who have succeeded at the next level.
