All-American K.J. Jarrell Commits to Sun Devils

There’s something about the number four with the Saguaro football program.

Four straight state titles, four Sabercats with verbal commitments to Arizona State for the 2017 class.

All-American safety K.J. Jarrell committed to the Sun Devils on Wednesday, joining tight end Jared Poplawski, guard Corey Stephens and linebacker Kyle Soelle, who committed together last summer. This is the fifth Saguaro player to commit to a Pac-12 program: Jarrell, Poplawski, Stephens, Soelle and UCLA offensive tackle commit Jax Wacaser. Recent Boise State commit Sean Seawards was just offered by UCLA as well.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound is the ninth in-state commitment for the Sun Devils in the 2017 class. He is the sixth four-star commitment in the class.

Saguaro continues to produce top-flight talent with Jason Mohns leading the way. The head coach and Jarrell have known each other long before the safety got to high school. Mohns described Jarrell as a “baby deer” as a sixth grader.

Whether it’s Mohns’ coaching, Jarrell’s development or a mix of both, the Saguaro playmaker is headed for a Pac-12 program.

The Sun Devils hope the Arizona commitments will continue through Signing Day, with Mountain Pointe safety Isaiah Pola-Mao, who announces his commitment on Friday, and North Canyon offensive tackle Austin Jackson, who is waiting until Signing Day to make his announcement.
