Arizona Sports News online

The Sun Devil football continues to add commits as Kenny Dillingham shapes his first full recruiting cycle.

Early in the day, San Diego safety Martell Hughes committed to the Devils. The 6-foot-2, 190 pound defensive back was recruited to ASU as a linebacker

The Devils beat Arizona, Cal and Washington State in Hughes’ recruitment.

Then Arizona State continued its strong Texas class by adding Chris Johnson Jr. to their class.

Of the Devils’ 16 public commits, six of them come from the state of Texas, including three defensive backs. The Texas-to-Tempe movement has been spearheaded by defensive backs coach Bryan Carrington and wide receivers coach Ra’Shaad Samples, and the results have shown early for their efforts.

According to MaxPreps, the 6-foot-1, 180-pound cornerback had 33 total tackles, two tackles for loss and two interceptions for Aledo High School last year.

The Sun Devils now crack the top-50 in team recruiting rankings according to 247 Sports and currently sit at No. 47 in the country.
