Arizona State infield Luke Keaschall was selected by the Minnesota Twins with the No. 49 overall pick in this year’s MLB Draft.

Keaschall was second on the team in average, hitting .353 with 25 doubles, 18 home runs and 58 RBI. tabbed Keaschall as the top college second baseman in this year’s draft class.

Before coming to Arizona State, Keaschall played at the University of San Francisco and was the WCC’s Freshman of the Year in 2021.

MLB Pipeline had this to say about Keaschall’s approach at the plate:

A right-handed hitter, Keaschall has shown a good feel to hit throughout his college career and on the Cape. He makes a ton of contact and doesn’t panic with two strikes, with a solid approach that helped him walk as much as he struck out in his first two years at San Francisco, something that’s continued this spring. He started to tap into his power a bit as a sophomore and hit five homers on the Cape last summer, but he’s definitely hit-over-power with perhaps average future pop at best.
