Texas Tech’s Cade Briggs Announces Transfer to ASU

ASU football added another experienced player up front via the transfer portal on Thursday.

Senior Cade Briggs announced his intention to transfer to Arizona State. The Bishop Gorman alum spent time at New Mexico and Texas Tech in his collegiate career.

The 6-foot-3, 300-pound interior offensive lineman appeared in two games last year with the Red Raiders, mainly as a back-up center. With New Mexico, Briggs appeared in 28 games, starting in 24 of them, over a three year span.

ASU offensive line coach Saga Tuitele coached Briggs at New Mexico in the 2019 season.

The Sun Devils shuffled around the offensive line throughout the spring, partially because of all the new faces and partially due to injuries throughout the spring.

Cal transfer Ben Coleman is expected to be out for a significant amount of time and he was the presumed starter at left guard. Like Briggs, Joey Ramos has experience at multiple spots along the line through his college career. Ramos only appeared in one game before an injured ankle sidelined him for the rest of the season.

Sione Finau from Purdue, UNLV transfer Leif Fautanu and JUCO transfer Max Ineahachor are all new additions along the interior offensive line as well.
