ASU Men’s Golf Eliminated from NCAA Championships

A day after Arizona State took Stanford to extra holes to advance to match play, top-seeded North Carolina eliminated the Sun Devils from the men’s golf national championship quarterfinals.

The Tar Heels won three of the first four matches to clinch the win, but the Sun Deils kept it very close down the stretch.

It’s a tough loss for the Sun Devils, who were the host team at Grayhawk Golf Course in Scottsdale, but there is optimism moving forward for the Sun Devils. Many of the top players on the team are sophmores or younger. Arizona State also is one of three schools in the country to advance to match play the past three seasons.

It’s a group that will look to make it to this mark – and beyond – when next year’s nationals roll around in San Diego.
