Cesmat – 93 Suns honored, a halftime to remember…

I dropped in on Suns retro night for what the team called a Harwood Homecoming.

I was hoping that the 92/93 Suns who were being honored would do the paying public a favor and suit up Saturday night. No Deandre Ayton, Devin Booker, Cam Johnson, Chris Paul, Cameron Payne, or Landry Shamet made for a paper thin roster. I think Thunder Dan could still hit a hook shot from the timeline in his sleep.

Alan Parsons Project was the intro music, but it would’ve been nice to hear the names of the players from back in the day introduced as starters. The game felt more like a Broadway play where the stand-ins did their thing.

Barkley, KJ, Thunder Dan, Tom Chambers and the rest of the 93 team came down on the floor for a very classy halftime ceremony. Mark West, Oliver Miller, Richard Dumas, Cedric Ceballos, Tim Kempton and others made it to the event. Danny Ainge was the only prominent name of the core players that were missing. Of course, the head coach, Paul Westphal, has since passed, but his wife Cindy led off the introductions onto the court.

It’s nice to turn back the clock. The halftime show was worth the wait…
