Red Mountain Wins Playoff Thriller, Ja’Kobi Lane Makes Unreal Catch

It’s playoff time. The 6A matchup between Brophy Prep and Red Mountain proved that, with a 45-38 thriller. The Mountain Lions did everything needed to move on to the second round.

It opened with 17-0 lead for the Brophy Broncos after two rushing touchdowns by David Lopez and an interception.

Then, Red Mountain went on a 21-0 run through the start of the 3rd quarter.

The highlight of the night (and possibly the year) was Ja’Kobi Lane making a one-handed grab in the back of the end zone with his body contorting in ways that don’t seem possible. This grab also put Red Mountain ahead late in the 4th quarter.

Red Mountain will face rival Mesa high school next week in round two of the 6A playoffs.
