Scottsdale’s Jagger Jones Runs Family Ties Up the INDYCAR Ladder

Jagger Jones is on the hunt for Indianapolis 500 glory. The 20-year-old was born in North Carolina but raised in Scottsdale and graduated from Notre Dame Prep.

Jones is attempting to climb up ‘The Road to Indy,’ INDYCAR’s ladder system similar to professional sports leagues’ minor league or developmental series. Jones is in his first year in the USF2000 series with the season finale looming this weekend in Portland. Next on the list of ‘minor league’ series includes Indy Pro 2000, Indy Lites, and finally into the INDYCAR Series with a chance to race in the Indianapolis 500.

After joining Cape Motorsports in 2022, Jones set out to climb up the INDYCAR ranks in search of making it to the Indianapolis 500 and would become one of the few third-generation racers in The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.

Jones carries one of the most legendary names in all of racing. His father P.J. Jones and uncle Page Jones found success in anything and everything on wheels. And everyone knows his grandfather, Parnelli Jones, the 1963 Indy 500 champion and 1973 Baja 1000 winner. His family propels Jagger forward while allowing him to create his own racing legacy.

Whether in a stock car or an open wheel car, Jagger Jones can battle for motorsports history as he dreams to fulfill what many have sought before him, kissing the bricks at one of the most sacred spots in sports.
