On The Rocks – Wave Cave

Hey everyone, welcome to On The Rocks! I’m your trail guide, Claudia Collins. I’m taking you along on new adventures as I check outdoor activities off of my Arizona bucket list. Today we’re hiking to the Wave Cave in Gold Canyon!

Wave Cave Trail is a 3-mile hike with over 800 feet of elevation gain and it’s rated difficult. I was initially very surprised by the “hard” rating on the All Trails app because of the short distance and manageable elevation gain. As it turns out, you gain 800 feet in the last 3/4 miles of the hike so it occurs all at once. The Wave Cave itself was better than I imagined because it provided expansive views of the Superstition Wilderness, some much-needed shade, and it made an excellent spot to hang out for a while!
