Lumberjacks Preparing For Big Sky Play After Monumental Win

In football, celebrations are short and sweet. At least they are when a program is well coached.

That’s the case for Northern Arizona University. Following a historic 21-19 win over the University of Arizona, coach Chris Ball has his squad preparing for the next game.

“The hardest thing we do as a coaching staff is hold our players accountable everyday. That’s hard,” Ball said in his weekly press conference on Monday. “We went out to practice yesterday and you would think that we were really banged up. We were sore, it was a very physical game… You wouldn’t believe how we were bouncing around. You wouldn’t believe the confidence in their eyes. You wouldn’t believe running one side of the field to the other. We’ve got to maintain that.”

Getting the first win of the 2021 campaign is a burden off the shoulders of the players and coaching staff. Now a target will be placed on them heading into Big Sky play. Coach Ball says his players are embracing it and hungrier than ever to accomplish the program’s goal: Win the Big Sky title.

On Saturday, the Lumberjacks travel to face Northern Colorado at noon.
