Story by Jordan Moffat

To kick off August, 18 Diamondbacks 2021 draft picks and recent signees helped host a back-to-school backpack camp and school supply drive for at least 100 students with the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church.

2021 first-round pick Jordan Lawlar and second-round pick Ryan Bliss were among the players to participate in the drive, and both of them said they were excited to get out and give back to the community.

The school supplies were donated by the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation as part of their D-backs for Change efforts in the community. In these packs, students received new sweatshirts, an insulated water bottle and a D-backs backpack filled with
all the essentials like notebooks, pens, pencils and more.

On top of that, the D-backs also donated 40 ChromeBooks to support the Pilgrim Rest Scholars Program.

This was the third of nine events for “D-backs Give Back To Education Week” presented by the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation and University of Phoenix.
