Phoenix Suns Superfan: The Man Beneath The Orange Paint

From JJ Watt to Guy Fieri, to the “Suns in four” guy, no fan is more dedicated to the Suns than Mr. ORNG.

The Rise of Mr. ORNG

Mr. ORNG has been a season ticket holder for the Phoenix Suns for 16 years, but it wasn’t until seven seasons ago that the man dressed head to toe in orange made his first appearance at a Suns game. Mr. ORNG was born out of a passion to bring more energy and fans to Talking Stick Resort Arena.

“So I started to spray my hair orange, put some orange face paint on, and then I started to get the crowd into it,” Mr. ORNG said. “Ever since then I’ve just really been trying to get the team and the crowd into it.”

Mr. ORNG proved his fandom and dedication to the Phoenix Suns by sticking with them through many tough seasons. After 16 years the 2021 season is exactly what he’s been waiting for.

The Man Beneath The Paint

Mr. ORNG’s duties go far beyond amping up a crowd in Phoenix, he aims to reach communities far outside of the arena. Mr. ORNG has a passion for giving back to Phoenix’s youth and he does that every day in his job as the varsity basketball coach at Peoria High School.

Batillo was truly able to combine his love for service and his love for the game when he created Mr. ORNG.

“Being able to go to Phoenix Children’s Hospital or speak at events with the youth and just see their reaction and their excitement and bring a smile to their day,” said Mr. ORNG.

Mr. ORNG says the most shocking and rewarding thing that came out of wearing orange from head to toe is the impact he’s been able to make on the Phoenix community.

Mr. ORNG has been painting himself with orange paint, sporting an orange wig and headband, and cheering on the Suns for seven seasons, and he doesn’t expect that to come to an end any time soon.
