It’s been a long time since the Phoenix Suns have seen postseason basketball. However, for the first time in a long time, there is optimism surrounding the playoffs.

With a 109-101 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday night, the Suns clinched a playoff spot for the first time since 2010. It snapped the second longest postseason drought in the NBA.

Devin Booker had 21 points, and Chris Paul dropped in 28 points and 10 assists while M-V-P chants reigned over him in a small, but loud crowd at Talking Stick Resort Arena.

With 10 games to play, Phoenix sits as the No. 2 seed in the west with a 44-18 record and they are just one game back of the Utah Jazz for the top-seed. The long hiatus is finally OVER.

Just for fun, here are some fun facts and other things that were going on in the world the last time the Suns were in the postseason:

-Kobe Bryant had just signed a three-year, $87 million contract with the Los Angeles Lakers

-Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford was the first overall pick in the NFL Draft, taken by the ST. LOUIS Rams

-The Hurt Locker won Best Picture at the Oscars

Rude Boy by Rihanna and Nothing on You by B.o.B/Featuring Bruno Mars were the top-two songs on Billboard’s Hot 100

-Gordon Hayward’s heave at the buzzer missed, Duke beat Butler in the NCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship, UCONN defeated Stanford in the women’s title game

-Breaking Bad, Community, and Parks And Recreation were among the most-viewed shows on TV
