Salpointe Catholic quarterback Treyson Bourguet has been consistent as can be for the Lancers over the past two years.
The class of 2022 player took over starting duties late in 2019 as a sophomore, and in 14 varsity games since then, he’s completed 126 passes for 1,877 yards, 27 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
He’s also been working consistently with Tucson Turf on the 7-on-7 circuit, refining his timing and accuracy this offseason.
On the recruiting end, it’s been a busy few months for Bourguet. Last summer, Bourguet committed to the University of Arizona but re-opened his recruitment after Kevin Sumlin was fired. He’s been in contact with the Wildcats and holds offers from Vanderbilt, Idaho and Columbia. He’s also heard from various Power 5 programs including UCLA, Oregon State and Northwestern.
Bourguet describes the process as “slow and steady,” but is being patient through the process. He’s using lessons he learned from his older brother, Trenton, who had a decorated career at Marana High School. He walked on at Arizona State, has worked his way up the depth chart and was put on scholarship this past season.
Treyson is open to many schools but needs to trust his gut through the process.
“I have to feel at home,” Bourguet said. “I have to feel comfortable.”
He’ll look to find his future home and lead Salpointe to a third straight Open 8 Division postseason appearance in the next year.
