Meet Former Howard Stern Intern, Antonio Pierce

After helping the New York Giants upset the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII at then University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale back in 2008, linebacker Antonio Pierce was looking for something different to pursue in the off-season.

While doing his weekly SiriusXM segment, “The Pierce Report,” the now ASU Associate Head Coach/Co-Defensive Coordinator was noticed and asked if he’d be interested in doing something that many would instantly pursue.

“One day one of the producers from Howard Stern saw me and was like, ‘Would you like to intern?,'” he explained to Sports360AZ.com’s Brad Cesmat in a Zoom interview Monday afternoon. “I said, ‘Why not. It’s different than football. Let me say this, it was an experience of a lifetime.”

Pierce said his internship with the broadcasting icon and his popular crew lasted four days with filming on the last two.

“It was just unique,” he said. “Being in production meetings. Understanding how Howard works. How they put that whole cast of characters together.

Make no mistake, even as a Pro Bowler and Super Bowl Champion, Pierce’s internship with Stern started at the bottom.

“They were pranking me – I was answering the phone calls, I was getting coffee,” he said with an animated smile. “Hey, I was a true intern. I was unpaid and I worked…every morning ’til we got done everyday.”
