Sunday afternoon it was announced Arizona State will play Florida State in the Tony The Tiger Sun Bowl on New Year’s Eve Day in El Paso, Texas.

“The Tony The Tiger Bowl invitation provides a tremendous opportunity for our team and coaching staff to compete against a quality program and close out the 2019 season,” Head Coach Herm Edwards said in an email release. “We look forward to representing Arizona State University and our fans in El Paso.  A bowl game is a reward for a good season and I am grateful for our players and coaching staff to be able to have this experience.”

The Sun Devils (7-5) enter the game on a modest two-game win streak. ASU defeated Pac-12 Champion Oregon and rival Arizona in back-to-back home games. ASU went 3-1 against ranked teams, including the before-mentioned win over the Ducks. They’re paced offensively by junior running back Eno Benjamin, freshman quarterback Jayden Daniels and senior wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.

Florida State went 6-6 this season. Former ASU offensive coordinator Mike Norvell has been named the Seminoles new head coach but won’t like coach the team in the bowl game.

Kickoff is set for 12 noon Arizona time.
