Aloha: Chandler’s Zach Bowers Commits To Hawaii

Arguably the state’s top linebacker is heading west for college. Chandler High tackling machine Zach Bowers is furthering his educational and football career on the big island.

A key cog on Shaun Aguano’s defense, the 6-foot-1, 215-pounder tallied 69 tackles, including 5.5 for loss as a junior in 2017. He also forced two fumbles and recorded nine quarterback hurries for the 6A state champion Wolves.

“This is a good get for Hawaii,” Recruiting Expert Jason Jewell said. “Bowers is super-productive and a standout on defense for a nationally ranked Chandler squad. He plays with passion and is all over the field.”

A three-star recruit, Bowers also had offers from Air Force, Army, Nevada, New Mexico State, Oregon State, Syracuse, NAU and Brown.
