Ball Makes the Most $en$e for Suns, Shough and ASU…

Arizona Sports News online

imagesThe cost of shoes, a dad who’s trying to become the next Don King, flip-flops that cost over $100 bucks. None of the above should convince the Suns to pass on Lonzo Ball IF they have the opportunity to draft him next month.
I am drafting Lonzo Ball to run the show on the court for the Phoenix Suns. I am drafting Lonzo Ball to inject a level of excitement that we haven’t seen since the late 2000’s. I am drafting Lonzo Ball to put butts in front of TV sets and in seats in downtown Phoenix.
All of this may become a moot point later this month when the ping pong balls for the draft lottery are spit out. IF the Suns don’t get one of the first two picks, they wont have a shot at Ball so it’s a moot point.
If the luck of the lottery falls on the Suns side, then taking Ball is a NO-BRAINER…

Why Haven’t Sun Devils Offered Shough?
I’ve gotten plenty of email about Hamilton QB Tyler Shough, with the most common question being about ASU. Tyler_Shough
Shough hasn’t been presented a football scholarship yet by Arizona State, yet Alabama, Michigan, and Florida State have all made Shough an offer. The optics of this aren’t good, but it’s obvious to me that Todd Graham and his staff have already offered another quarterback for the 2018 recruiting class. In the world of college football, you don’t want to offer a in-state prospect at quarterback if you’ve already offered another player at the same position. Tough spot for the Sun Devils, given how Shough has become a national prospect. They need to move on him and make and make an offer IMO…

Programming Note

2018 Cardinal QBs?
Cardinal fans haven’t stopped with the emails about the team not addressing the future of quarterback in the draft last week. I think it’s more than fair to wonder what the team is going to do. It’s not like they had it figured out in between Kurt Warners surprise retirement and the brilliant move of getting Carson Palmer for a bag of rocks from the Raiders. It’s easy to look at Mike Glennon in Chicago and say he’s THE GUY to chase. Sure it makes sense to go after Sam Darnold at USC, UCLA’s Josh Rosen, or Wyoming QB Josh Allen in the 2018 NFL Draft. It all SOUNDS good, but getting through 2017 should be the first order of business. I’d take Blaine Gabbert here. He got his head kicked into the ground and still kept coming back up for air with a REALLY BAD football team last season. He’s not the long term answer, but those who don’t think he can take a roster spot in 2017 in Arizona, i’d disagree…

Byrne Leading the Way
Former Arizona AD Greg Byrne started his new job as Director of Athletics at Alabama on April 1st. It took him just over a month to give Nick Saban a 11-million dollar contract for 2017 and make other moves with the football department that continue to show that Alabama is one of the leaders of the sport. I am going to catch up Byrne on the stream show and TV show this coming week…
