GALLERY: Union Hills Classic

By Shelly Bolt

The rain clouds didn’t stop this skateboarding competition from happening over the weekend on Saturday, January 14 at Cowtown’s Union Hills Classic. The clouds rolled through during the competition but the tricks would keep getting more insane throughout the day.

The local contest consisted of Pee Wees, ages 6-9, 10-12, Masters, Womens, 13-15, 16 and up, as well as Sponsored athletes. The Glendale, Ariz. event was free to enter thanks to its fellow sponsors DC Shoes, Pig Wheels, and Santa Cruz.

Utilizing the whole Union Hills Skatepark the competition consists of one Jam Session per skater for every age group, then they chose the top three winners from that age group’s Jam Session. The Union Hills Classic brings out skateboarders and their families for many more years to come.
