Booker: For [Drake] To Do That…

It’s been quite a summer for Devin Booker.

He was named to the USA Basketball Select Team and dominated in a few Las Vegas Summer League appearances after averaging just under 14 points per game as rookie.

Booker has officially arrived.

If anyone had doubts they were erased when rapper Drake donned a black Booker jersey during his concert Tuesday in the same arena Booker and his Phoenix Suns teammates play their home games.

“For him to do that,” Booker told Sports360AZ.com Wednesday shaking his head with a smile. “Words can’t describe it…for his to do that…it was unbelievable, especially here in the city of Phoenix. [There’s] nothing like it.”

Booker first met Drake, a huge basketball fan, when he was playing for Kentucky and the megastar attended ‘Big Blue Madness,’ a popular scrimmage at the basketball power in Lexington.

Much likes his game on the floor, Booker admires Drake’s versatility in recordings and on stage.

“The thing that’s so great about his music is there are so many different types of it,” he said. “He’s so talented in so many different ways. That’s why I idolize him.”

The 19-year-old rising star said the Suns made Drake a jersey with his “Drake” on the back but the he requested his own Booker jersey before taking the stage at Talking Stick Resort Arena.

“I made that happen really quick,” Booker said smiling.
