Cardinals cruise past Raiders 24-13

Another ‘W’ in the column for the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, taking down the Oakland Raiders on the road 24-13.
With the victory the Cardinals improve their record to 5-1, the Raiders drop to 0-6 and are now the only winless team in the NFL.
Here are some quick hits…

-1976 was the last time that the Cardinals started a season 5-1. They were then known as the St. Louis Cardinals.

-the running back tandem of Andre Ellington and Stepfan Taylor rolled up 128 yards on the ground, and combined for 91 yards through the air. Taylor had two scores. Ellington finished with 160 yards of total offense.

-Carson Palmer had an interception in the second quarter, it was the first pick thrown by a Cardinals QB this season

-The Cardinals defense held the Raiders to just 220 total yards, more importantly the Raiders ran only 48 plays for the game.

-The undisciplined play of the Raiders went to the Cardinals advantage. Oakland had 8 penalties which negated several positive plays.

-I thought Carson Palmer looked even stronger in his throws from last week against Washington to Sunday over the Raiders. Palmer was sacked just once and managed the game very well.

-after a couple of soft weeks in the schedule, the Cardinals have Philadelphia at home next Sunday followed by a road game at Dallas. If your a Cardinal fan, be hopeful for the return of Calais Campbell to the starting lineup.
