ASU Honors State’s History, Unveils Latest Uniform Combination

The Arizona State football team will likely have a new look at some point when they take the field this fall.

At the very least, they’ll have another option to choose from in their growing wardrobe.

Monday morning the university unveiled a copper and anthracite look from Nike, honoring Arizona for its’ long-running history as a top cooper-producing state. It’s ASU’s 10th helmet design in the past three seasons and features a copper chrome mask and decals, as well as a copper chrome stripe down the middle.

“As players we love to look like one-of-a-kind on the field,” senior quarterback Taylor Kelly explained. “Uniforms are important because they have a huge impact on recruiting and our fan base. This new [look] is awesome and very unique in a number of ways, especially the gray and copper chrome face mask.”

The Devils now have four options for their jerseys and five for their pants and the uniforms color and concept both feature the same design as previous combinations. The pitchfork remains dominant and the team will wear all-white gloves and cleats with the uniforms.

“We love the maroon and gold and it is well-represented in our uniform options,” Vice President for University Athletics Ray Anderson said. “But we are also fortunate to be part of a university that prides itself on change and the ability to break the mold.”

ASU did not announce when they would be wearing this new option for the upcoming season. Last season the Devils debuted their previous new look in their 37-34 loss to Notre Dame in Arlington, Texas.
