It’s been a season of firsts for Arizona United and head coach Michael Dellorusso.
Wednesday night in Peoria could be considered the biggest one to this point in their USL PRO existence when they host MLS LA Galaxy in the fourth round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
“They’re one of the most prolific MLS teams in history,” Dellorusso explained to Sports360AZ.com during his weekly coaches segment Tuesday morning. “They have some of the most recognizable names in the league. They have arguably the most successful coach in American soccer history [Bruce Arena]. What they’ve done speaks for themselves.”
He and the United are looking to build off Saturday’s 1-0 win over the Rochester Rhinos improving their overall record to 4-6-2.
The Galaxy are expected to travel and play many of their regulars. It is not known if forward Landon Donovan will be one of those as he’s serving as a World Cup analyst for ESPN.

Dellorusso says Wednesday’s match is important both on and off the field as the sport continues to grow here locally.
“It’s phenomenal,” Dellorusso said. “It’s great for our organization. I think it’s even more important for our community.”
Kickoff is set for 7:00PM from the Peoria Sports Complex.
