Everybody loves a good road trip, right?

The University of Arizona athletics department, spear-headed by Athletic Director Greg Byrne, are again taking coaches and select members from their department across the state as a way of saying thank you to Wildcat fans not residing in the greater Tucson area. This marks the fourth year of the Arizona Road Tour which also includes stops in Yuma, Sierra Vista and Pinetop.

“We’re the University of Arizona, not the University of Tucson,” Byrne told Pros2Preps.com. “So it’s important that we get out around the state.”

The tour also presents an opportunity for Byrne to help brand the UofA everywhere in the state, not just southern Arizona. It also allows the coaches to be more visible in Phoenix for recruiting purposes. Head basketball coach Sean Miller noted some of the Wildcats best have come the Valley including Mike Bibby, Richard Jefferson, Channing Frye and Jarryd Bayless.

“We have so many passionate Wildcat fans [in Phoenix] that have do some much to support us,” Miller said. “It’s nice to be able to connect with our fans.”

The ‘Cats next stop is May 9 in Yuma at Lute’s Casino followed by a trip to the Fort Huachuca Thunder Mountain Activity Center in Sierra Vista and finally up north on the 23rd to Charlie Clark’s in Pinetop.

Admission is free to the public at all venues.
