Shannon Brown bringing Championship intensity to Suns on stretch run

Just a little over a month ago Shannon Brown was struggling to find substantial playing time in the Phoenix Suns rotation. Now, Brown is the first guard off the bench and playing at a very high level, or as he puts it, a championship level.

“I know I can play this game of basketball,” said Brown. “Thats what I rest on and I just go out an try to play hard.”

In the sixteen games since the All-Star break, Brown has scored in double figures in eight of them. Most recently, a career high 32 points against the San Antonio Spurs. Brown started against the Spurs in place of Grant Hill who was out with right knee inflammation.

Having won two rings with the Los Angeles Lakers, Brown has experienced something even Steve Nash has not tasted. It is important for Brown to continue this elevated level of play in the stretch run of the season. It is also important for the rest of the Suns to feed off of Brown as well.

“I’ve got two championships, some of the coaches around here have championships, so we are just trying to get to that championship level,” added Brown.
