Cardinals winning, Fitzgerald elevating his play

Larry Fitzgerald is a man of great patience and in recent weeks that patience has paid off.

After enduring a six-game losing streak, erratic quarterback play, and the lack of another big play receiver to help shoulder the load, things are starting to fall into place after the Cardinals 21-19 win over San Francisco (10-3) Sunday afternoon in Glendale.

The five-time Pro-Bowler exploded for seven catches and a game-high 149 yards and a score as the Cards won their third-straight and fifth in the last six games to improve to 6-7. It was his 30th career 100-yard game.

After Fitz’s big game, head coach Ken Whisenhunt was asked if he has elevated his game even more in the Cardinals recent turnaround.

“I don’t know if that’s possible,” Whiz explained to the media. “He already plays at a pretty high level. That’s why you have Larry Fitzgerald on your team and that’s why he is so important to us. It’s great that (we) have a player like Larry.

Fitzgerald, a tireless worker and perfectionist, looks at it a different way.

“I can improve in all facets of my game and continue to work on that. It’s always great to reach milestones and things like that. When it comes in victories, it makes it that much sweeter.”

Nothing seems to surprise Fitzgerald’s teammates who have become accustomed to his big games.

“That’s Fitz being Fitz,” Skelton told the assembled media Sunday. “He’s a playmaker and he makes all our receivers that much better, too.”

After a slow start, Fitzgerald is over 1000 yards (1092) and has 62 receptions and seven touchdowns through 13 games.
